Brett making efforts to come out of retirement is like a slap to the face of the Packers organization and his fans. He went out on top, despite not making it to his second Super Bowl. He chose to leave, and we accepted it.

He now knows he can’t return to the Packers, who have been busting their asses for the past half a year to play without him. The only option is to play for another team. The Packers won’t allow him to simply be released unconditionally from his contract and sign with the highest bidder (likely the Vikings or Bears). If anything, he gets traded to a non-NFC North team, and the Packers gain some value in return.

He’ll end up on a team like the Ravens, Bucs, or Dolphins. He won’t win another Super Bowl with one of those teams. His best chance was to decide earlier to play one more year in Green Bay, and he gave up on that chance. Brett’s image is now tarnished as a Packer, because of his selfishness. Maybe I’ll feel differently in a year, but I’m truly heartbroken right now… as lame as that might sound.

He is the Shawn Michaels to our Marty Jannety.

In short, everyone got really drunk really fast, and I’ve since decided that the rules needed a bit of refinement.

Two horrible ideas in the first version were “drink when there are snakes on the screen” and “drink when Sam Jackson swears”.

A drinking game like this should start the night off… not start AND end the night for most of us.

So here’s attempt number two:

Drink when a snake dies. (multiple snakes at once = one drink)

Drink when a human dies. (multiple humans at once = one drink)

Drink when the movie goes into “Snakevision”.

Boobies = Drink!

Drink when Sam Jackson gives a command (i.e. repeat after me, stay safe, listen to me)

When Sam Jackson says THE line… finish your drink!

If there’s anything left by the time the credits start rolling, finish your mother f’ing drink!

The Mexican military and Department of Tourism don’t seem to have open lines of communication. Case in point:

Just minutes before getting into Rocky Point, we came upon a stop in traffic. Cars were backed up as far as the eye could see. Why, exactly? The Mexican military set up a roadblock so they could search for drugs. Apparently drug running is on the rise in Sonora, MX, and I guess they got a tip that there may be some trafficking going on. It was pretty lame. What made it worse, though, was that my fellow tourists thought it would be a good idea to make more lanes, therefore creating a bottle neck and slowing traffic to an even slower crawl.

I like to think I made the best of things, though.

Roger Clyne is awesome.

When he says he’s got a 45 song set ready for the night, he’s not kidding. Grab a blanket, some beers, and tequila.

Jack and Jose can be friends.

Saturday, 10am: Jack and Diet. Sunday, 1am: Jose. Various combinations of the two and beer throughout the day. It was a good day.

Jet Skis are fun. I finally got to ride one. It’s like riding a motorcycle on the water, and it’s a lot more forgiving if you fall off. Dragging knee on the water = lots of fun.

Mexican guacamole FTL. This isn’t really new to me, but I figure maybe I’ll find something better one of these times. Either we’re going to the wrong places, or American made guacamole is like eleventy billion times better than Mexican guac. Guac I’m used to up here is kinda chunky with all sorts of good stuff in it. Guac down there is simply avodacos in a blender, watered down, with a bit of cheese on top. Meh.

Anyway, I called Maricopa County Animal Control and left them a message. “Yeah, there’s a big bird here. It’s not teaching us anything about the alphabet. Instead, it’s eating our fish and chasing small mammals.”

Maybe they’ll come and take it to a lake or the zoo or something. If not, I’ll get a hunting license and we’ll pay a trip to the taxidermist and have a creepy piece of office decoration.

Pictures? Yeah, I got some:

Dear Josh,
We are so sorry that you are so upset with the results of the RockBand Finals.
We thought the tournament was fun and competitive. We wanted you to know that your comments
were directed to corporate. Corporate did hear your message. Corporate’s protocol for comments
is to have the stores address their own issues and resolve them in the politest manner
possible, thus, your comments were directed back to our store.
We responded by apologizing for your feelings that the contest was unfair. We
never like our guests to feel that they were mistreated in any way. We would like to offer your
team another chance to re-compete for the top prize. Your team is invited back, next Thurs,
May 8th at 9:00 p.m. to compete against the winners score. We will award your team the $300
prize if you should out perform their numbers. The competition will be played in the Hard Mode, so
please prepare this week in the difficult level.
We like to play fair, so we look forward to your team’s competitive performance,
next Thursday, The 8th at 9:00 p.m. Good Luck to your team!

My reply:

I’m not going to bother with this, as the team that beat was most definitely the best team - and frankly, I don’t think we can beat them. However, it still doesn’t change the fact that things like this should be exclusive to customers. When people sign up to participate in things like this, we expect to be playing against other customers, and that the winners will be strictly customers - nobody employed by the company sponsoring or running the competition should be allowed to compete. Period.

Thanks, but no.

I’m over it.

Though I could’ve organized some crazy outing last night, or at least a birthday dinner with a bunch of friends today - I quite honestly didn’t feel like it. I tend to be the guy who organizes things. If somebody doesn’t do it, then the cool and fun stuff won’t happen - so it may as well be me, right? Plus, that means I get to call all the shots. Anyway, it was just nice to have a really chill day and relax a bit.

Today I watched the Suns DESTROY the Spurs with my family. A special thank you to Boris Diaw and crew for kicking so much ass today. After they went home, I ended up watching Juno. Awesome awesome awesome movie. It’s full of happy, and is pretty real. I dig it. A lot.

…the best thing you can do is find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what-have-you. The right person is still going to think the sun shines out of your ass. That’s the kind of person that’s worth sticking with.

That’s some good shit, right there.

Joshua,
I am sorry that your team was never informed of any of the rules regarding the
rock band tournament the week that you won. I ran the tournament every week
except for the week that your band participated. The rules were passed out in
all the prior weeks, and all the other bands were informed that the finals would
be played on hard difficulty. Some of them even played in our guitar hero
tournament which did the same. The employee(Trent)was not in charge of running
the tournaments he just helped out last night, and him being an employee did not
give him any unfair advantage to the tournament. I hope that you will still come to Buffalo Wild Wings. We will keep in mind your comments and suggestions for our next tournament.
Thank You,

Into the Wild - Pretty good story based on true events… I’d like to read the book now. Burning question from this movie - the girl at the trailer park community… would you if you were in his shoes?

Across the Universe - I’m a Beatles fan, and admittedly I do like the occasional musical. This one is pretty cool. Would be better on weed, I imagine.

Walk the Line - Johnny Cash = awesome. The end. Also, Reese Witherspoon is ridiculously hot in this movie.

Event Horizon - Best sci-fi horror movie ever. Yes, better than Jason X. (Yes, that was a joke).

And some music:

Into the Wild soundtrack - Eddie Vedder acoustic FTW.

Flobots - Handlebars - I can ride my bike with no handlebars… can you?

Ludo - Love Me Dead - The video is awesome.

And some games:

Portal - The cake is a lie

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 - It’s just fun.

Aaaaand I’m spent.
