Chase Budinger, Jawann McClellan, and Jordan Hill led the Cats to a solid victory over the Sun Devils at McKale Center in Tucson tonight.
I’m not even going to take any cheap shots on ASU basketball. They make themselves look bad enough.
Maybe one day these games will be more of a competition. But as it stands, only seven games have been won by ASU in the rivalry since Lute came to T-town.
For me, this also means that the Schlag Championship has changed hands and is again in my possession. Middle of the night belt spins may now commence.
Hopefully this win will give the Cats enough of a boost to take down UNC this Saturday. If they can do it, maybe the Phoenix media will stop taking cheap shots on Arizona basketball (yes, really, they are).
And yeah, I guess I did refer to myself in the third person in this post’s title. I couldn’t think of a better way to word it.

Last year, I was invited by a friend to join Bowl-O-Rama. I invited my dad, who invited a few work friends, and it was a lot of fun. The idea is to pick the winners of every bowl game, and assign confidence points to each selection. Choose correctly, and you gain that many points. If you make a wrong pick, then you lose those points.
My picks are here.
This year, my brother has joined the competition. As a result, we have made it into a Schlag Championship match.
After the earliest of the Bowl games in December, my victory looked like a sure thing. However, as the games progressed, Danny creeped back up and overcame me. The current score is 131-126 in his favor.
There are three games left which will have an impact on our scores: International Bowl, GMAC Bowl, and BCS Championship game. The Sugar Bowl has no impact on the individual competition, as we both selected LSU for 30 points. We picked the same winners for the remaining games, but we have different confidence points assigned, and that will make the difference.
With a Cincinnatti victory in the International Bowl, Danny would gain twelve points on me. This would eliminate me and he would retain the title. However, if Western Michigan wins that game, I will gain twelve points on him and take a seven point lead.
This would lead to Danny needing Southern Miss to lose to Ohio in the GMAC Bowl and Ohio State to lose to Florida in the BCS Championship Game for him to make up the seven points and we would then be locked in a tie.
According to Bowl-O-Rama rules, the first tie-breaker would be who has more correct selections. Under the possibility of a tie, Danny would beat me with a record of 17-14 against my record of 15-16 (again, not including the Sugar Bowl, which has no bearing).
I can’t believe I just analyzed all of that.
